The B20 pedestal from Vérindal lets you build the foundations of a deck in natural wood or composite boards, without much height to make up. Stable and durable, it supports a load of 1 tonne per pedestal and withstands frost (-20°C) as well as UV (+80°C).
Like the other pedestals in the B range, its head is fitted with a 3-hole drilled tab which lets you screw the joist directly onto it, with at least two fixing points.
The pedestal is laid directly on the ground, without fixing, and is simply held in place by the weight of the joist resting on it. This loose-lay installation also ensures good ventilation of the structure.
Need a different height?
The Vérindal B range covers several heights, all with the same drilled-tab head.
The B20 pedestal is delivered assembled and consists of three main parts, all in 20% talc polypropylene:
1
BH20 screw-type base : base of the pedestal
Ø200 × 17 mm, 140 g. Wide base for optimal stability on the ground.
2
B20 screw : adjustment rod
Height 17 mm, 83 g. Screws into the base to adjust the height precisely.
3
B20 screw-type support : tab head
120 × 94 × 45 mm, 61 g. Tab drilled with 3 holes for screw-fixing the joist.
Total assembled weight: 284 g
Before starting the job, draw a scale plan of your deck to calculate precisely the number of B20 pedestals, joists and wooden boards required.
Recommended spacing
Place the B20 pedestals every 50 cm along a first row, then step back 70 cm to lay a new row along the length of the joists.
1. Prepare the ground
On a concrete slab or an old deck, lay directly. On raw ground: dig 15 cm, lay a geotextile, backfill with crushed gravel, compact and check the level.
2. Lay the pedestals on the ground
Lay a first row of pedestals every 50 cm, then a second row 70 cm further on, and so on up to the far end of the deck.
3. Fix the joists
Lay the joists on the pedestal heads and fix them with at least two screws through the drilled tab. Set the height with a slight slope for water drainage.
4. Lay the decking
Lay the boards perpendicular to the joists, starting from a wall with a 5 mm expansion gap. Screw 20 mm from the edge with special decking screws.
The B20 pedestal adjusts natively from 20 to 30 mm. It has its own dedicated extension, the RB10.
RB10 10 mm extension
An extension dedicated to the B20 pedestal
The RB10 fits on the head of the B20 pedestal and lets you reach a maximum height of 40 mm.
Slope correction
Slope regulator Vérindal+, corrects slopes up to 10%
Extension
RB10 10 mm, exclusive to the B20 pedestal
Low-height wooden decks
Height of 20 to 30 mm, ideal for a slight level adjustment on a concrete slab or stabilised ground.
Natural wood and composite
Suitable for natural wood and composite boards, laid on joists.
Renovating an existing deck
Laid directly on an old deck or a concrete slab, without earthworks.
Drainage and ventilation
The open structure of the pedestal prevents moisture rising under the wooden deck.
Yes. The pedestal is laid directly on the ground and is simply held in place by the weight of the joist and the decking, with no glue or mechanical fixing into the ground.
The head of the B20 pedestal has a tab drilled with 3 holes. The joist rests on it and is screwed down with at least two fixing points.
By adding the RB10 extension (10 mm), dedicated to the B20 pedestal, which lets you reach a maximum height of 40 mm.
The B20 pedestal is suitable for natural wood and composite boards, laid on joists.
Space the pedestals 50 cm apart along a first row, then place a new row 70 cm further on along the length of the joists.
