The advantages of laying your terrace on a pedestal for joists
A terrace without any major works and a quick preparation of the ground.
The 140/230 mm joist pedestal allows the laying of raised wooden and composite decks. Contrary to other methods, laying on terrace pedestals allows quick and easy installation without the need for a professional. Thus, the installation of a wooden deck on pedestals is completed in only 3 days.
Thanks to the 140/230 joist pedestal, there is no need for major work to prepare your site for a wooden deck. The preparation of the ground is then simplified and is carried out in only 4 steps:
- Begin by making a 15 cm deep decking;
- Place a geotextile felt at the bottom of it to prevent weeds from growing between your deck boards ;
- Then cover the whole thing with 15 cm of gravel;
- Then finish by compacting and that's it!

- Then screw the joists to the pedestals using wood screws.
- Then finish by applying the wooden strips
Accessories for wooden deck on pedestals
In order to guarantee the durability of your structure, we recommend applying a protective strip to the joists: this sealing strip protects the joists against moisture. You should also provide spacers for the boards so that they are evenly spaced at 4, 5, 6 or 7 mm. Finally, equip yourself with a deck board straightener for optimal results.
The installation of a terrace on a pedestal is the easiest and quickest method to set up: follow the assembly steps and build your terrace in less than 3 days!
step 1Determine the required spacing, place the pedestals on the ground, adjust them and check everything with a spirit level.
step 2As soon as the installation is level, place the joists in front of the pin located on the head of the pedestals.
