Adjustable from 25 to 40 mm, it accommodates the joists to support the structure of your terrace. Without fixing or structural work, the wooden terrace pedestal is an economical and practical solution to get a wooden terrace out of the ground.

Prerequisites: draw up the layout plan

1/ Tools and materials required for soil preparation
Few tools are required to prepare the ground. Here is the list of everything you need:
- A cord
- Stakes
- A spirit level
- A shovel
- A tape measure
- A mason box screed
- A geotextile film
- Crushed gravel
- Roller compactor
2/ How to prepare the ground
Only 5 steps will allow you to go from raw ground to a stabilized ground:
- Define the shape of your terrace and dig 15 cm deep;
- Lay a geotextile felt to prevent the growth of weeds between the wooden boards;
- Backfill with crushed gravel: 0/60 mm over 10 cm and 0/4 mm over the top 5 cm;
- Compact everything to obtain a flat and loose surface;
- Check the flatness of the surface using a spirit level.
Steps for laying a wooden terrace on YEED pedestals (ex Rinno)
Laying a wooden terrace on pedestals is relatively simple and quick. A weekend should be enough to complete your project.

2/ Accessories for laying a deck on a pedestal
Building a wooden deck on pedestals is quick and easy. A few accessories will help you in this outdoor landscaping project, namely:
- The joist protection strip to protect your foundations from humidity;
- Plank spacers for perfect spacing between your wooden boards;
- The EDMA board straightener to make your wooden slats straight and thus facilitate their installation;
- The invisible fixing kit to fix the boards without visible screws.
3/ Arrange the pedestals on the ground
With the help of your layout plan, arrange the wooden terrace pedestals following these spacings:
- Start by placing joist pedestals every 50 cm for the location of your joists. The latter must be supported all along with a spacing of 70 cm.
- Once placed on the ground, adjust the height of each of the pvc studs using their adjustment ring. Make sure you leave a slight slope (1.5%) to promote the evacuation of rainwater.
4/ Lay and fix the joists
The joists, which are at the core of your terrace foundations on pedestals, must be chosen with great care. Always take joists of the same species as your wooden slats, opt for aluminum joists but do not use composite joists. These will change over time.
- Lay the joists against the strip located at the head of the pedestals;
- Screw the joists onto the pedestals through the tongue;
- Apply the protective strip along the length of the joists;
- Cover the edges of the joist with the protective strip.
5/ Lay the covering boards
Lay the wood slat covering starting against a wall. Shift 5 mm to obtain the expansion joint;
Place the boards perpendicular to the joists;
Screw the boards 20 mm from the edge with special decking screws.
Carry out the side finishes of the terrace
To make the side closure of your wooden terrace, there are only 3 small steps:
- Measure the height and make the necessary cutouts;
- Place the fascia board horizontally;
- Screw the plank into the joist.
