8 mm fixed pedestal for paving terrace - YEED (Ex Rinno)

The 8 mm YEED (Ex Rinno) paving terrace pedestal is a fixed-height pvc pedestal. It allows you to build the foundations of a pedestal terrace with no height to catch up, to fit out a roof terrace or to renovate an existing terrace. Compatible coverings are concrete pavings, porcelain stoneware and other exterior tiles, natural stones and wooden gratings.

Prerequisites: define the type of installation then draw up the layout plan

Before starting your construction site, think about your future terrace and the type of installation you are planning: straight installation, staggered installation or diagonal installation... The type of installation will depend on your layout plan.

The layout plan is a sketch of your terrace. It must contain this with its dimensions, its type of installation but also and above all the paving terrace pedestals, the tiles. This scale plan will allow you to precisely calculate the number of pvc plots and the number of pavings.

To calculate the number of paving pedestals, it's simple: count 4 pedestals per tile. It is possible to add a central pedestal in addition to reinforce the structure. This fifth pedestal is necessary for large slabs, from 60 x 60 cm. Sometimes, a sixth pedestal, also central, may be necessary, this is particularly the case for 60 x 120 cm tiles. To place the central slab pedestals, break the fins located on the head of the pvc pedestals.

Ground preparation

In order to lay your terrace paving pedestals, it is necessary to have a stable and level surface. Two possible scenarios: either you have a concrete paving or your ground is rough.

On a concrete paving or an existing terrace

Your surface is stable and level. You therefore do not need to prepare the ground, go directly to the step of laying the paving pedestals.

On a rough ground

2/ How to prepare the ground

This preparation is simple and doesn't cost much:

Delimit the surface of your terrace and dig the ground 15 cm deep
Add a geotextile felt to prevent the growth of weeds between your slabs;
Cover with crushed gravel 0/60 mm over 10 cm then 0/4 mm over the top 5 cm;
Compact everything to obtain a flat and loose surface. Be sure to maintain a slight slope of 1.5% to promote the evacuation of rainwater.

2/ Accessories for laying a paving terrace on a YEED pedestal (Ex Rinno)

Few accessories are required for laying a tiled terrace on a fixed 8 mm pedestal. These are mainly accessories that make it easier to install or use your paving terrace.

A paving carrier to lift and move tiling tiles without hurting your back;
Anti-noise shims to limit vibrations and offer you optimal acoustic comfort;
Insulation pads.

3/ Arrange the pedestals on the ground

Start along a wall (or at the edge of the surface to be covered). Space the tiled terrace pedestals the width of your slabs. Repeat this operation until you have a complete grid of your terrace.

4/ Lay the pavings

Now that your floor is squared with 8 mm fixed paving pedestals, all you have to do is lay your porcelain stoneware tiling, your natural stone, concrete paving or wooden grating. To do this, start with a corner and gently place your paving on the head of the pedestal.

Continue by laying the tiles on all the paving pedestals located against the wall.

Stop before the last row of studs.

Continue on the second row and so on.

It may be necessary to cut the last tiles across the width. In this case, use a wet saw with a diamond blade suitable for tiling.
